I think that the anxiety over the community of "Japan" with which development of the communications network accompanying IT-izing, the unpredictable depression, and the complex international situation has covered our society now. These accelerate negative of a certain group, and import of the halfway "individualism" from the West to Japan. The transfer and succession between this generation and a different one has disappeared and, i.e., it causes discontinuity of people and morality called the world seems to be collapsing. I do understand the sense of values of so-called "present young man" because I myself am a college student. Anyone is groped for and cried for identity of individuality to the surrounding world, which spread infinitely. Efficiency and speed have become weight to the relation between a thing and a human being, and I regard it as "osmosis of perfect disposable society" progressing. On the other side, the words "Free & Easy"," slow life & slow food" has appeared to media, in the severe time of this depression and restructuring. However, the society in which everybody can live "Free & Easy" does not exist, and this is only a life style. This is not a sense of values. "What do you search to be impressed? There may be anyone who has passed somehow, being unable to clarify the standard of this sense of values. I think that each man could have his/her own life styles. What we want to appeal are "the standard of important things. I think that is the pleasure and importance of communication. We just feel now, this fountain pen is what teaches us all of them.

To be sure, increase in efficiency eliminates the scene in everyday life of "writing", and is depressing the value. However, to put it the other way around, on the special scene, will be sure from conventional speed and conventional convenience that a prejudice and fun are required in the future. The tradition handicraft, which continues being inherited for 120 years and still, never disappears. We are completely charmed by the world of fountain pen.
